Song of Guinevere

℗ 2021 Danielle Olivyea Christian

For the sake of love, I feared I’d die
I found my only safety was to lie

All my life I’ve loved you
All my life I’ve loved you

I’ve favored many loves, but none was right
I’ve broken my own heart not yours this time

All my life I’ve loved you
All my life I’ve loved you

No, I can’t look at you;
my heart is not my own
I have become a servant to
a thousand masters to survive

Then your love comes, your love comes
And it takes me, you take me
To the heart of everything
I could not see from where I stood

I see the wholeness, the oneness
I feel completion, perfection
And you place me, you place me
Like a star in your bright sky

I know you’re standing there
I can feel you listening
My eyes are open wide
You’re in front of the controls
Let me in

When we turn
Our eyes meet
We become One

I see your one request was that I shine
I’ve broken my own heart not yours this time

Song of Guinevere ~ My Own Heart

by Olivyea | Theatre of the Self

ABOUT THIS SONG

The Song of Guinevere is a song of self-betrayal and self-love, about the passionate expression that results when we take the risk of fully embracing who we are and living in our truth, and about the subconscious tear that we experience until we do. ( The title was inspired by the BBC series “Merlin”, which retells the epic tale of Arthur and Guinevere.)
